# Who edits Best of Thailand

![Cesar Rodriguez, editor of Best of Thailand](https://bestofthailand.org/img/cesar-rodriguez.jpg)

I'm Cesar Rodriguez. I edit bestofthailand.org, sign its guides and articles, and answer for what they say. The site belongs to no travel-content network and takes no bookings. The one paid placement is the Featured slot, and every card that has it says “Featured”.

When a page says a rule was checked on a date, that is the day the figure was read against its source, and the date changes only when someone checks it again.

## How each kind of data is checked

- **Entry and visa rules**: read against the Royal Gazette notices, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and TAT, with every change logged by date on [the visa page](https://bestofthailand.org/visa) (last checked 24 September 2026).
- **Medication**: 77 medicines looked up one by one in the Thai FDA's traveller permit portal (last checked 7 September 2026). [The list](https://bestofthailand.org/bringing-medication) names the ones we could not confirm.
- **Rail stations and distances**: 185 stations checked against OpenStreetMap and Wikidata. Every “near this station” figure is computed from coordinates, not from a district label.
- **Elephant camps**: 16 venues, with the two accreditation bodies kept apart because they disagree.
- **Places**: ratings, opening hours and popular times come from Google Maps and say so on the page. A business gets the Verified badge only after it confirms its details with us; the badge is never sold.

## What a machine writes

The short description on a place page is either imported with the listing or written by a language model from the data we hold for that place. The “What reviewers say” summaries are written the same way from Google reviews, and each carries a line saying how many reviews it is based on. Guides, rules and reference tables are checked by hand against the sources they cite.

## If you spot a mistake

A rule that changed, a place that closed, a price that moved: write to [rasekrodriguez9@gmail.com](mailto:rasekrodriguez9@gmail.com). When a published figure turns out wrong, the page says what it said before and where the correction comes from.
