# Bangkok Directory

Bangkok works district by district, and so does this directory. Pick one below for its restaurants, hotels, spas and services — each page shows counts and ratings computed from our own listings.

**[Ari](https://bestofthailand.org/bangkok/ari)** — Leafy, low-rise and local: specialty coffee, indie eateries and a laid-back vibe.

**[Bang Kapi](https://bestofthailand.org/bangkok/bang-kapi)** — Bustling eastern hub around Ramkhamhaeng with universities, malls and street food.

**[Bang Khae](https://bestofthailand.org/bangkok/bang-khae)** — Phetkasem Road west of the canal, ending at Lak Song where the MRT Blue Line stops. The Mall Bangkae, the Bang Khae fresh market and a dense grid of housing estates, 12 km out from the Old City.

**[Bang Khun Thian & Chom Thong](https://bestofthailand.org/bangkok/bang-khun-thian)** — The Rama II corridor south-west, running from Chom Thong's canals down to Bangkok's only coastline. The stilt seafood restaurants at the end of Bang Khun Thian-Chai Thale Road are about 25 km from the Grand Palace and there is no rail past Lak Song.

**[Bang Na](https://bestofthailand.org/bangkok/bang-na)** — Southeastern gateway near BITEC and Mega Bangna — family malls and residential towers.

**[Bang Sue & Chatuchak North](https://bestofthailand.org/bangkok/bang-sue)** — Home to Krung Thep Aphiwat Grand Station, Thailand's rail mega-hub.

**[Chatuchak](https://bestofthailand.org/bangkok/chatuchak)** — Home to the world-famous weekend market with over 15,000 stalls.

**[Din Daeng](https://bestofthailand.org/bangkok/din-daeng)** — Residential district beside Ratchada with honest local restaurants and easy MRT access.

**[Dusit](https://bestofthailand.org/bangkok/dusit)** — The royal quarter — palaces, government houses and leafy boulevards.

**[Huai Khwang & Ratchada](https://bestofthailand.org/bangkok/huai-khwang)** — Ratchada's night markets, Chinese-Thai eateries and a fast-growing office corridor.

**[Khao San](https://bestofthailand.org/bangkok/khao-san)** — The backpacker mecca — hostels, bars and budget travel energy.

**[Lat Phrao](https://bestofthailand.org/bangkok/lat-phrao)** — Sprawling northern neighbourhood around Union Mall and the Lat Phrao intersection.

**[Nong Khaem & Bang Bon](https://bestofthailand.org/bangkok/nong-khaem)** — The far south-west, between Phetkasem and Ekkachai roads inside the Kanchanaphisek ring. Wholesale produce markets, car workshops and housing estates; the nearest station is the MRT Blue Line at Lak Song.

**[Phasi Charoen](https://bestofthailand.org/bangkok/phasi-charoen)** — The inner-west khet either side of Khlong Phasi Charoen, where the BTS Silom line meets the MRT at Bang Wa. Wat Paknam's 69-metre Buddha and its green glass pagoda are why most visitors cross the river for it.

**[Phaya Thai](https://bestofthailand.org/bangkok/phaya-thai)** — Victory Monument's transit hub, boat noodle alley and dense local life.

**[Phra Khanong & On Nut](https://bestofthailand.org/bangkok/phra-khanong)** — Up-and-coming east side neighbourhoods with local markets, craft beer bars and affordable eats.

**[Prawet & Lat Krabang](https://bestofthailand.org/bangkok/prawet)** — South-east Bangkok along Srinagarindra and On Nut roads: Seacon Square, the Nong Bon lake park and the flat sprawl out towards the airport. This is the Suvarnabhumi approach — the Airport Rail Link stops at Lat Krabang, one station from the terminal.

**[Ratchathewi & Pratunam](https://bestofthailand.org/bangkok/ratchathewi)** — Wholesale fashion at Pratunam, Baiyoke Tower and some of the city's best street food.

**[Rattanakosin (Old City)](https://bestofthailand.org/bangkok/rattanakosin)** — The historic heart of Bangkok: the Grand Palace, Wat Pho and riverside temples.

**[Riverside](https://bestofthailand.org/bangkok/riverside)** — The Chao Phraya riverfront — luxury hotels, night markets and dinner cruises.

**[Sathorn](https://bestofthailand.org/bangkok/sathorn)** — Embassies, sky-high hotels and some of the city's best rooftop bars.

**[Siam (Pathum Wan)](https://bestofthailand.org/bangkok/siam)** — Bangkok's mall core: Siam Paragon, Siam Center and MBK along Rama I, then CentralWorld and Gaysorn at the Ratchaprasong intersection. Two BTS lines cross at Siam and a skywalk links the whole strip, so you can cover it without crossing a road.

**[Silom](https://bestofthailand.org/bangkok/silom)** — The financial district by day, one of Bangkok's liveliest nightlife areas after dark.

**[Sukhumvit](https://bestofthailand.org/bangkok/sukhumvit)** — Bangkok's cosmopolitan artery — international dining, nightlife and shopping along the BTS line.

**[Taling Chan](https://bestofthailand.org/bangkok/taling-chan)** — Canal-side west Bangkok, 10 km from the Grand Palace: the weekend floating market on Khlong Chak Phra, boat-noodle stalls along the water and the Borommaratchachonnani road corridor. No BTS or MRT reaches it — arrive by taxi, bus or boat.

**[Thawi Watthana](https://bestofthailand.org/bangkok/thawi-watthana)** — Bangkok's western edge, laid out along Phutthamonthon Sai 1 to Sai 4 and the road out to Salaya. Housing estates, canal-side restaurants and university traffic rather than sights; the nearest rail is the MRT Blue Line's terminus at Lak Song.

**[Thonburi](https://bestofthailand.org/bangkok/thonburi)** — The west bank of the Chao Phraya: canals, Wat Arun and old-Bangkok life.

**[Thonglor](https://bestofthailand.org/bangkok/thonglor)** — Bangkok's trendiest neighbourhood — craft cocktail bars, brunch cafés and designer boutiques.

**[Yaowarat (Chinatown)](https://bestofthailand.org/bangkok/yaowarat)** — One of the world's great Chinatowns — neon signs, gold shops and legendary street food.
