# Bangkok Itineraries

Day-by-day plans built around how the city actually works — early temples, air-con when it counts, street food after dark. Every stop comes with live, top-rated suggestions from our [Bangkok directory](https://bestofthailand.org/directory), so the recommendations stay current.

## Before you build your days

Beat the heat, not the clock. Bangkok itineraries fail at 2pm, not 8am. Do outdoor sights early, plan something air-conditioned for mid-afternoon (a mall, museum or [massage](https://bestofthailand.org/thai-massage)), and come back out for the evening — check the [forecast](https://bestofthailand.org/weather) for rainy-season timing.

Getting around: the BTS Skytrain and MRT cover most of these plans (standard distance-based fares, roughly ฿17–65 per trip); for the Old City (which neither reaches), use the Chao Phraya express boats or Grab. Traffic at rush hour will eat an hour of your day — route around it, not through it.

Save as you go: every place page has a save button — build your own list and share it from [My Trip](https://bestofthailand.org/my-trip).

## Frequently asked questions

**How many days do you need in Bangkok?**

Three days covers the essentials comfortably: one for the Old City temples (Grand Palace, Wat Pho, Wat Arun), one for modern Bangkok around Siam and Sukhumvit, and one for markets and neighbourhoods like Chatuchak and Ari. With five days you can add the river, a day trip to Ayutthaya and time to simply wander — Bangkok rewards it.

**Is 2 days enough for Bangkok?**

Two well-planned days cover the highlights: the big three temples and Chinatown's street food on day one, Jim Thompson House, Sukhumvit and a rooftop bar on day two. It's enough to see why people come back — most do.

**What should I skip in Bangkok if I'm short on time?**

The floating markets are a half-day commitment each way and the famous ones are heavily touristed — with under three days, spend that time in Yaowarat (Chinatown) instead. Likewise, pick one mall cluster (Siam or ICONSIAM), not all of them.
