Thailand's Tourist Police Bureau announced on 22 October 2026 that it will step up help for Chinese and other foreign visitors, working with the Royal Thai Police and the Immigration Bureau. The move follows an 18 October warning from the Chinese embassy, reported by the South China Morning Post, about fake job offers used to lure travellers, influencers and actors into scam operations.

The embassy's advice applies to any visitor: use licensed transport, be wary of last-minute changes to travel plans, and keep family informed of where you are.

The Tourist Police hotline is 1155, open 24 hours a day in eight languages. Incidents can also be reported through the Thailand Tourist Police app.
