Craft beer is expensive in Thailand for a policy reason: excise and import duties on beer are high, and until the licensing rules were loosened in late 2022 a small brewery could not legally operate, which is why many Thai-branded craft beers are still brewed in Vietnam, Cambodia or Australia and shipped back. In a bar, expect 250–450 baht for an imported or 'Thai' craft pint against 90–150 for a Thai lager (2026, indicative). The taprooms cluster around Sukhumvit Soi 22–26, Ekkamai, Phra Khanong and Ari, and several double as bottle shops with a corkage-free fridge.

- Prices on a taproom board are usually per 330 ml or per pint; ask which, because the difference is a third.
- Retail sales run 11am to midnight (rule of 29 May 2026); bottle shops attached to a bar follow the bar's licence for drinking in.

- Bars and clubs close at 2am, except in three Bangkok zones licensed to 4am: Silom–Patpong, RCA with New Phetchaburi Road, and Ratchadaphisek Road.
- The drinking age is 20, for Thais and foreigners alike.
- Shops, supermarkets and convenience stores sell alcohol from 11am to midnight every day.
