Grand Palace area: 16 roads closed today for royal cremation rehearsals

The Metropolitan Police Bureau is closing roads around the Grand Palace, Wat Pho and Sanam Luang on Saturday 31 October 2026 while four of the royal cremation processions for Queen Sirikit the Queen Mother are rehearsed. Closures follow each procession rather than lasting all day, from 06:30 until about 20:00.

In the morning (07:00 to 11:30) the routes run from the Dusit Maha Prasat Throne Hall to Wat Pho along Maha Rat and Tha Wang roads, then to Sanam Luang along Sanam Chai and Ratchadamnoen Nai, then around the Royal Crematorium. Na Phra Lan, Na Phra That, Phra Chan, Chetuphon and Charoen Krung between the Army Reserve Command roundabout and Saphan Mon are among the roads affected. From 13:00 the evening rehearsal moves along Ratchini, then from the Grand Palace past Wat Ratchabophit to Wat Bowonniwet (18:30 to 19:30) and on to the army headquarters on Prachathipatai Road by 20:00, closing parts of Ratchadamnoen Klang, Din So, Phra Sumen and Atsadang.

Police published 19 detours for the morning and 23 for the evening, including Tanao, Chakkraphet, Krung Kasem and Worachak, and ask drivers to allow extra time.
