Thailand to weigh visa-free entry for Mexico, Colombia and Uzbekistan on 9 November
By Cesar RodriguezUpdated
Thailand's Visa Policy Committee meets on 9 November to consider visa-free stays, possibly of 15 days, for tourists from Mexico, Colombia and Uzbekistan.

Thailand's Visa Policy Committee will consider adding Mexico, Colombia and Uzbekistan to the visa exemption scheme at a meeting on 9 November 2026, Tourism and Sports Minister Surasak Phancharoenworakul said, according to The Thaiger on 28 October. Any exemption needs the committee's approval, and the first stay offered could be 15 days.
The proposal follows complaints about slow visa approvals. Emirates told TAT that 20 to 30 passengers per flight from Mexico failed to board because their Thai tourist visas had not come through. Travellers from Uzbekistan had to apply for Thai e-visas through the Thai embassy in Russia.
Until the committee decides, visitors from these three countries still need a visa before they fly. Since August, 60 countries and territories can enter visa-free for up to 30 days, and Seychelles and Mauritius for 15 days.
