Wine is taxed hard in Thailand. Import duty on wine was cut to zero and excise reduced in February 2024, which trimmed shop prices, but bar mark-ups held: a glass runs 250–450 baht and a bottle rarely lands under 1,200 (2026, indicative). The wine bars cluster in Thonglor, Sathorn, Ari and along Charoen Krung, and several double as natural-wine shops with corkage, which is the cheaper way to drink a good bottle. Most close at midnight or 1am rather than 2.
